Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Sumitomo) started the studies of uranium dioxide (UO2) powder

1956

The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Furukawa) started the studies of nuclear fuel

1964

Sumitomo built researching and manufacturing facilities for uranium-aluminum alloy fuel in its Kumatori Works

1965

Furukawa established fuel processing facility in its Takeyama Research Center

1966

Sumitomo built researching and manufacturing facilities for UO2 fuel in its Kumatori Works

1972
