Challenge to Change for the future

NFI was formed in 1972 as a comprehensive nuclear fuel company, and has been expanding its business with the management philosophy “Expand the business steadily and creatively with respecting for human nature, and contribute to society through promoting the development of nuclear industry.” As a sole fuel manufacturer in Japan both for boiling-water reactors (BWRs) and pressurized-water reactors (PWRs), we have been supplying high-quality fuels to almost all nuclear power plants in Japan. The fuels are being manufactured under our advanced and reliable technologies with no accidents.
Engineering services for Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel manufacturing and development of fuels for advanced reactor, such as High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTR), are also maintained as our businesses. Further, fuel related software and maintenance services cultivated by our experiences on reactor core management and safety planning, and non-destructive inspection service for structures are also being supplied. Based on such businesses, we are growing and playing an important role for the development of Japan’s nuclear industry.

The movement for realizing the decarbonized society is currently accelerated. Among this movement, there will be high expectations towards nuclear energy which combines low operation costs with no greenhouse gas emissions and high supply stability, and we believe this will increase the significance of our company’s role.
NFI formulated the long-term business plan named “Vision 2040” in 2018. It stipulates that “Nuclear Fuel”, “Engineering” and “Back-End of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle*” are the business fields that should be particularly concentrated. We will continue to contribute to the society through "challenge to change" on the activities for such businesses and grow the value of our firm sustainably. I recognize my mission is to advance and achieve this effort.
