Nuclear Fuel Industries, Ltd. is the only company able to fabricate two types of light-water reactor fuel in Japan.
The light water reactor is a nuclear power reactor initially developed in the USA. The power reactor is filled with normal water. This water cools the power reactor and moderates the neutron energy (slows the travel speed) to help facilitate nuclear fission. Mainly, there are two types of reactors: the pressurized water type (PWR) and the boiling water type (BWR).
